Unlike other gastronomic societies, la Chaîne welcomes both professional and lay members on an equal footing, recognising that the culinary arts would be lost without both the artists who create the dishes and the diners who enjoy them.
Membership is open to anyone who wishes to express their support for the culture of the table—all that is required of members is a love of good food and wine, a desire to meet like-minded people, and an interest in experiencing the best that the world’s culinary artisans have to offer. Bailliages are currently established in Wellington and Christchurch, though members are welcome and encouraged to participate in events in any bailliage nationwide or internationally.
Membership of la Confrérie de la Chaîne des Rôtisseurs is by invitation only, with most new members joining through recommendation by friends who are already members.
Once the Siège Mondial receives the membership application form and payment, a ‘nomination’ for induction is sent to the member along with a membership card, which entitles the new member to attend any events locally or internationally as well as the opportunity for a vote at the Annual General Meeting. At the induction ceremony, the new member is formally received into the Society and receives the appropriate coloured ribbon and diploma.
